Welcome to 2012. Wow. A new year. 2011 was definitly one of my best years yet. I'm learning more and more that if I want to be happy, then it's up to me to help make that happen. I knocked out with a bang. Not with partying, but with photoshooting. As I mentioned in my last post, I had 3 shoots scheduled for yesterday.
The first shoot titled, The sad tale of Bianca Neve, is a play on the traditional version of snow white only w/o the evil queen b/c we couldn't find a person to fit that role in such a short amount of time. The day started off early and crazy foggy. You could barely see in front of you. I picked up the female model for snow white and drove over to Pearland for our shoot. Because of the fog, we managed to get lost for a good 25 mins. We couldn't read the signs well or see very far. In fact, one of the directions was that to look for a target, we didn't even see the target until like 2 hours later when the fog had cleared. Craziness. So there we all were, the mua (who was making penis jokes), the huntsman, prince charming, the wardrobe stylist, I, and bits and peices of other family members, it was definitly a full house. I was on a time crunch, but even so, I think things turned out okay. I mean the weather was perfect for the shoot, though not as perfect for lighting purpuroses. I think photoshop will have to be my friend on these photos. It's time like those I wished I used lights and maybe this will help me actually want to try to get better with using my off camera flash. I mean there are times it could really help things out. The peices for the shoot made my david ngygen were really fantabulous. If you are in houston and need princess type gowns, check him out. So after running late and flying over to the medical center, I eventually started shoot number two.
Shoot two, funnily enough, happened b/c this girl who had seen my previous photos from the model who played snow white and wanted me to shoot her headshots. Networking folks, it works. We met at this park that turned out to be a really pretty place. There were two homeless men that made it a littel awkward, one was pretending to sleep who looked like Santa and the other one spent a good two hours using sciossors to trim his beard hairs. By this time, I had already dealt with fog, which had basically lifted, and the sun was trying to peek out from time to time. The model was smiley and was really easy to get good photos of. I had some lighting issues but we got them worked out. It was a good experience and she was good to work with.
Shoot three, late again. Haha. That was my theme to the day. I did my fourth shoot with the lovely Mark. Always good to work with. It's like our yearly tradition. We met in downtown Houston, walked around, and only shot for like 30 mins. I mean we just knocked those photos out and they turned out really well. I'm really proud of them. It was a nice end to a very long day. We all pilled into Mark's car, had some food, though the waiter was strange, and it was nice to just sit and chill.
That was my last day of 2011. I started off the year at an old friend's party being proud of myself for venturing out where I didn't know anyone and handling it well. I said this next year I will do what I am scared of doing, one of those things being submitting photos to magazines. Here I am, 2012 and my work has paid off. I will continue to grow and continue to push myself. 2012 will be better than the last!
