I got the pleasure of photographing the lovely Lady G who is a new clothing designer. She just launched her web store about two months ago. She has tops and skate board designs which I think are really awesome.
It was one of her first times being in front of the camera. That's always a hard place to be, especially if you aren't a model! But she did great. Miss Lady G is a bit of a goof ball. I photographed her for Coeus Magazine. You should check her out on her face book page: Here.
You will be able to check out the photos when the new issue of Coeus comes out!
This blog is about my adventures in being a portrait photographer out here in sunny Los Angeles. The adventures are real, although the names at times, may be false.

Cat Power
One of the best things about photography is building up contacts that I may not have made otherwise. Over the years, I have met scores of people. Some who I remain in contact with (thanks facebook!) and others that I don't. Each photoshoot is a new experience. This one is a mix of a photography contact that I made last January. The lovely young woman who did my sweater weather shoot with me. It involved another contact that I made two months ago in one of my Landmark classes, a film student who is interested in photography. It was my first experience of having someone watch me and want to learn from the experience. I was like oh, I've been doing this long enough to actually know something. That's pretty cool! Most of the time, I feel like a student myself. Here are some photos of Cat.
We met these two curious ladies at the laundry mat who were full of positive words for all of us. It was a really great experience!

Sid and Nancy (inspired)
This is a story about Sid and Nancy
Two lovers who went down in history
He was a bass player in a punk rock band
She was a New Yorker name Nancy Spungen
They fell as in love as two people can be
They thought thier love was destiny
Then one day, his high fell down to an all time low
He woke up to her dead, his heart screamed no
Sid got clean, tried to live his life with out Nancy
Momma got Sid high, together in heaven, so called
destiny.

Wiona Ryder
I saw an old photo of Wiona and Johnny Depp a few months ago. I was like oh the 90's. I decided I wanted to do a Wiona inspired shoot. I enlisted the lovely talents from my Sid and Nancy shoot. Ms. Emma as the model and Ms. Emily as the MUA. Last weekend we all got together bright and early and put the idea together. Good conversation. Walking up and down Sherman walk in Canoga Park. And viola, we had our shoot. I will post photos soon! Here's to the 90's being cool again.

More Roman
Walking around Los Feliz, capturing candid shots of Roman. It's amazing what you can capture when you keep your eyes open and just wait for the perfect expression.

Roman
A month or so ago, my friend and I went on a walking tour of the secret stairs of silverlake. Since then, I've been wanting to do a shoot there. The only problem is, secret stairs, as fun as they are to walk up and down, aren't all that amazing to shoot. Good thing darken door ways can be amazing. When the model give you a look that you are able to capture that look, that emotion. That's when you know that you got something beautiful. I love capturing beauty.
I'm thinking of going on an artistic tangent in my photography. When I figure out exactly what that means, I will be hopefully making things a bit different. Everyone needs some spice in their lives, and I need a whole barrel.

Make up Doll
I got a message from a MUA I know. Hey I need a model for my make up class, are you available. Well, yeah I am. It came at the perfect time. Sometimes you need a day where you get pampered. Where you can feel pretty. Getting my make up done wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It was actually nice. Plus I got to learn a little bit about the science of make up artistry.
If you ever get the chance to have someone doll you up, you should do it. It's a nice experience and you get to leave being whatever personality you should to be. I chose to be a bit 80's punk.

Anelise
This is Anelise. This is the first fashion shoot that I've done in a while. I've been going through a "trying to figure out my life and what I want" phase. Personally, I'm hoping the phase ends soon and the "I know what I want" phase begins. ;)
Sooo, I don't actually have all that much to say about the shoot except that it was like 105degrees outside. I thought I was going to melt. Or pass out. Or both. This was her first shoot.

Kit
This is Kit. Kit and I have shot several different times. I remember a few years ago finding his MM profile page and then bugging him for months until he came to town from New Mexico and shot with me. He ended up being a really cool guy. Definitely one the best people I've met through photography. And I've met lots of fabulous people. This is just a little shoot we did b/c he wanted headshots. We shot at this park near where we live. But we also ventured out to Topanga Beach. I love that beach for shooting. It's small, kind of secluded, and usually not crowded. You can just sit and watch the waves. You look over your shoulder and see American Apparel in the background. There is this amazing little restaurant across from the beach, the Reel Inn. Such good food. Here's to good times with good people! And of course, as i said in a previous post, to being fed!

Andres
I did this shoot a few months ago. I don't have much to say about it except that we ate at this New Orleans inspired restuarant in the Art's District called NOLA. It made me want to go visit Louisiana and have some of my grandma's home cooking.

Candice and Kim
This has been a very busy weekend. My camera is most likely complaining of needing a vacation. I am not complaining though. I like being busy. Plus if I get fed, it's even better. And I've been fed lots!

Logan
Logan.
I had been talking to him on and off for weeks about setting up this shoot. He finally moves from NY state to LA. Two days later, we shoot. We walked around his neighborhood in Hollywood. What a lovely place near the hills. You could get lost just walking through the curving roads.
Here are the photos captured on that hot, hot day.

Sid and Nancy
Over the winter holidays, my friend and I were talking about photo ideas. She had this idea for a Sid and Nancy shoot. (If you don't know Sid and Nancy-please put google to use immediately.) I was like awesome. She said I couldn't steal her idea. That she had the perfect pair for the part. I told her I was going to wait until after she did her shoot. But she took too long, and I got this perfect idea. Instead of using a girl and a guy, how about using two girls to play the part. Once I had that thought, the rest was pretty easy. With the help of wonderful MUA Emily Kellis and Stylist Aurora Sanchez (and her friend Shelby Barr), we were able to put together a pretty awesome idea and make it come to life. Thank you so much ladies. And to the beautiful models also (Olga and Emma). You all rock.

Galila
Sometimes I question my choices. It's hard at times to tell if the decisions you are making are the right decisions. I guess the only way to tell is to see if you feel good after you engage in them or if you feel worse. The best any of us can do is to try to listen to what our hearts are telling us is right and hope the rest falls into place.
Here's a few photos of Galila. I shot this near my friend's house. I was at her house the weekend before the shoot and liked the area. I've been busy lately. So stay tuned for more photos!

Yeva
I was very proud of myself during this shoot. I managed to get a model, stylist, and mua all in the same place. It took awhile. There were delays. But at least we all had urban outfitters as entertainment. It ended up being a beautiful day.
Model: Yeva Borogoditskaya
MUA: Aisha Lund
